Our History

In the fall of 2006 three friends Karis Jagger, Lee Michel and Marnie Owens decided to start Baby2Baby.

After pregnancies, baby showers and kids the three women realized they had amassed more clothes, blankets and gear than their collective children could possibly use. They wanted to pass their baby items to families in need but couldn't find an organization that specifically recycled baby goods.

They did it in New York and Boston, so why not Los Angeles.

The first drive started with an email request for baby items from friends and resulted in three garages full of baby gear and clothing. After sorting and cleaning the donations, they loaded up their cars and distributed the items to Beyond Shelter, St. Anne's and 1736 Family Crisis Center.

The response was so overwhelmingly positive they realized Los Angeles needed an organization to do this full time, and Baby2Baby was born. With each year Baby2Baby grew. By 2010 the Baby2Baby office served more than 30 organizations on a monthly basis.

In May 2011, Kelly Patricof and Norah Weinstein took over the leadership role from Karis Jagger and Marnie Owens.
