our mission

Baby2Baby provides low-income children ages 0-12 years with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves.

By distributing to non-profit partner organizations including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs, foster care programs and children’s hospitals, Baby2Baby will serve more than 180,000 children in Los Angeles this year and tens of thousands more across the country through the Baby2Baby National Network.

A letter from Kelly & Norah

As most of you know, we provide low-income children, ages 0-12 with diapers, clothing and all basic necessities that every child deserves. This year we added 25,000 children to our program, bringing us to 150,000 children served in Los Angeles alone.  We also continued to grow nationally with our Baby2Baby National Network now serving 20 cities across the United States.

This past year, under the worst of circumstances, our national expansion proved to be more valuable than we could have imagined when the onslaught of catastrophic, natural disasters started in Houston, Texas.  The relationships we've been building for years across the country were instrumental in getting basics to children in need.  With Houston literally under water, we went immediately to our Baby2Baby National Network member on the ground in Texas, whose infrastructure we have helped build up with dry warehouses, a full staff and the sudden ability to serve thousands of families who had been displaced by the hurricane. Within days of the devastation, we sent a million diapers to Texas along with their most needed items from basic hygiene products to warm blankets.

When Florida and Puerto Rico were devastated by hurricanes and Northern California by the largest wildfire in California history, Baby2Baby's emergency response program continued to respond and has now impacted the lives of tens of thousands of children left homeless by these disasters across the country.  In total, we sent over 3.6 million items including diapers, wipes, shampoo, soap, blankets, underwear, shoes and much more.

Of course, we didn't stop focusing on our home in Los Angeles and the children living in poverty here in our community. In 2017, we distributed an additional 8.7 million items, including:

  • 6.8 million diapers
  • 556,006 wipes
  • 192,911 pairs of socks & underwear
  • 86,490 hygiene products
  • 25,274 backpacks
  • 21,750 toys
  • 21,363 books
  • 19,025 items of clothing
  • 5,267 pairs of shoes

It was another record year for diapers – the most important essential that we provide to the families we serve. This year, we will distribute our 20 millionth diaper! We also ramped up our diaper advocacy work and testified once again in Sacramento helping to affect change around diaper policy in California where new legislation has finally been passed to help make diapers more accessible to babies living in poverty.

While we are thrilled to report our growth year after year - we still have so much work to do. There are 353,959 children under 12 in Los Angeles who are living below the federal poverty line. This means that there are over 200,000 children who we are not yet reaching and who need this community in their lives.

From all of us at Baby2Baby, thank you for your support over the years and for many more to come.

All our best,

Norah & Kelly

Since assuming the leadership roles at Baby2Baby in 2011, Norah and Kelly have transformed Baby2Baby from a grassroots organization into a nationally recognized children’s non-profit that will serve over 180,000 children in 2018.  Under their leadership, Baby2Baby has distributed over 34 million items including more than 20 million diapers.

Norah and Kelly have pioneered a uniquely innovative and high-impact approach to philanthropy through an unparalleled expansive celebrity engagement network and an effective corporate sponsorship program, which includes a diverse range of partners such as Huggies, Tiny Prints, and Old Navy.

Through their “Angels” and honorees, they have assembled a coalition of celebrity mothers that includes activists and actresses such as Jessica Alba, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, Julie Bowen, Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Richie, Kelly Rowland, Kerry Washington, Rachel Zoe and more.

Norah and Kelly have also grown the organization into a national thought leader in this space. In 2016, they were named a partner of the Obama White House for President Obama’s historic diaper gap initiative and in 2015, Baby2Baby announced its national expansion through the creation of the Baby2Baby National Network, broadening the organization’s reach to twenty additional cities throughout the country.  They have also testified on behalf of several bills focused on alleviating the cost of diapers for low-income families.

Prior to taking over Baby2Baby, Norah Weinstein practiced law at Skadden Arps Slate Meager & Flom.  Kelly Sawyer Patricof, a former model, worked at the Northside Center for Child Development in East Harlem.
