our mission

Baby2Baby provides low-income children ages 0-12 years with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves.

By distributing to non-profit partner organizations including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs, foster care and children’s hospitals, Baby2Baby will serve more than 150,000 children in Los Angeles and thousands through our National Network this year.

A letter from Kelly & Norah

We can't believe it's been 5 years! We have so many 5s to celebrate: 5 years of growth, 5 inspiring honorees and distributing an additional 5 million diapers and 5 million wipes this year.

5 years ago, Baby2Baby was housed in a tiny storefront on Pico and we were reaching only 500 children in the community. Today, our headquarters are in the center of Los Angeles with over 10,000 square feet of warehouse space, where we have distributed 27 million items to 125,000 low-income children.

5 years ago, we focused our efforts on low-income children in Los Angeles and now with the Baby2Baby National Network we have distributed over 1 million essential items to children in over 20 cities throughout the United States.

5 years ago, we had only a handful of partner organizations, and now we serve over 100 partners in LA, including homeless & domestic violence shelters, head start programs and children's hospitals.

5 years ago, it was just the two of us and an intern, and now we have a full time staff of 20.

To all of us at Baby2Baby, 2016 is the year of the diaper! Earlier this year, President Obama and the White House asked us to help lead an initiative to shed light on diaper need in this country. There is a critical diaper gap in this country, which means that 1 out of every 3 American families is forced to make the impossible choice between food or diapers. These low-income families lack access to internet deals and big box stores and as a result, end up paying double for their children’s diapers. Many of these children are being sent home from daycare and preschool because their mothers cannot afford to send them with 6-10 diapers that are required.  Parents cannot go back to work and their kids are denied educational opportunities because of the lack of this one basic essential. For these reasons, diapers represent to us a cycle of poverty that we must address.

For Baby2Baby's part, in 2016 we distributed 5 million diapers and 5 million wipes in response to Obama's challenge. But that isn't enough for every child living in poverty, so we need to do more. We testified in Sacramento in support of two California bills, advocating for relief for families struggling with diaper need, and we are working toward more governmental help in Washington, D.C. as well.

We didn't stop with diapers. In the past 5 years, we have distributed 27 million items that include:

  • 13 million diapers
  • 11.2 baby wipes
  • 162,000 hygiene products
  • 155,000 items of clothing
  • 86,000 bottles
  • 80,000 pairs of shoes
  • 60,000 backpacks
  • 13,000 books
  • and so much more!

We are so thankful to each and every one of you for the support you have given in so many unique and special ways. We hope you will stay with Baby2Baby for the next 5 years, the next 50, and beyond, so we can grow to serve all low-income children with the basic essentials they deserve.

With our deepest thanks,

Norah & Kelly
