Baby2Baby provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing, and all the basic necessities that every child deserves. In the last 12 years, Baby2Baby has distributed over 300 million items to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals and underserved schools as well as children who have lost everything in the wake of disaster. During the COVID crisis, Baby2Baby has reached over one million children in over 150 cities across the country.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Head of Warehouse Operations, the Shipping Manager is responsible for scheduling all outbound orders being shipped via 3rd party freight carriers and oversees the logistics of our local deliveries made by our drivers. The individual will submit freight quotes, create BOLs, and manage outbound orders being shipped daily. Partner with our Program Teams to ensure delivery expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
The position will work Monday-Friday out of our Distribution Center 16333 Raymer St. Suite A, Van Nuys, CA 91406. The work is performed in an office and warehouse setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Manages Transportation Coordinator; oversees the Baby2Baby Courier delivery schedule.
- Ensures all Baby2Baby deliveries are scheduled in a timely manner and communicates obstacles to the Program Teams.
- Partners with 3rd party logistics carriers to get competitive rate quotes and schedules outbound shipments daily.
- Creates BOLs and schedules pick-ups for outbound shipping orders.
- Working with the Transportation Coordinator, ensures split fulfillment orders are transferred to proper warehouse prior to the ship date.
- Communicates with Program Teams regarding recipient organization shipping requirements and constraints and provides tracking information to Program Teams for all orders being shipped via 3rd party carrier.
- Updates distributed orders daily in inventory management system, including those shipped via 3rd party carriers, delivered on Baby2Baby vehicles, and picked up by partner organizations; partners with each warehouse to maintain detailed and accurate information.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate and organized shipping document archive.
- Tracks Baby2Baby Courier delivery metrics.
- Partners with the Warehouse Director to account for aged orders.
- Provides operational & clerical shipping support to the Warehouse Director.
- Assists, as needed, with the labeling and loading of orders onto shipping and delivery vehicles.
- Helps maintain partner/sponsor relationships.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience working with 3rd party freight companies and using online platforms.
- 2-3 years of experience managing a team.
- Warm, friendly, respectful demeanor and an outgoing personality.
- Flexibility with schedule that allows for changes that may come up during the day.
- Comfort with using both a manual and electric pallet jack.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
- A team-player with integrity, credibility, and a strong commitment to Baby2Baby’s mission.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. frequently
- Valid driver’s license.

- Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Speaks Spanish.
- Knowledge of freight classifications.
- Experience driving a stand-up forklift.
Salary Range
This role’s salary range is between $55,000 – 75,000. Actual salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
